The 'Grass Man' Cometh

Thanks mainly to Bob 'The Grass Man' Wood the senior pitch looks absolutely immaculate this year; without doubt the best ever, and as they say 'if you can't play on that then you can't play'.

Parts of the pitch were cordoned off entirely and no teams, senior or junior, trained on it at all during the close season as Bob and his team carried out a costly and time consuming programme of digging out the old lines, cultivating, seeding, fertilizing, weeding and cutting.  Brog initiated the new electric spray line marker, between points set out by a professional surveyor using the latest lazer technology, to create a classic finish.

Ultimately everyone wants to play on a great surface and that in turn promotes good football and attracts good players.  With sensible pitch management and some basic common sense it is hoped that the senior pitch will need less maintenance next time so that more effort can be aimed at the Junior pitch... although with new 'junior' posts and a realignment of the pitch onto better ground the junior's season should be more enjoyable and less interrupted by the elements.

The Committee ask that players, parents and spectators (and the general public) respect both pitches by walking around the playing surface rather than accross it whenever possible and resist using the goals/areas other than for official games so that those dedicating their free time and effort to produce a fine surface do not do so in vain.
