Only 1 match this weekend and Whaley went to Cheshire Boys Pumas to face their toughest test of the season.

Kicking with the slope in the 1st half, Whaley were always going to put pressure on the home teams goal and the midfield and forwards dominated the early exchanges. Great wing play from both Prophet and Theloke saw their goalie having to make some good saves to keep the scores level but the pressure eventually told when Prophet struck a low shot from the left wing to make it 1-0 to Whaley. A second came a few moments later direct from a Prophet corner which with the help of their goalie crept straight in. Cheshire Boys occasionally got into the Whaley half but the threat was snuffed out by both Taylor and Vann with the midfield trio helping when required. Guy was quiet in nets only having to make one save but we knew it was going to be a different story in the 2nd half. Half time 2-0 Whaley.
Within moments of the restart and after pressure from the home side, Whaley were unable to clear the ball and the home side scored 2 quick goals within the first 5 minutes to bring the scores level. Their keeper had a big kick and with the added advantage of the slope Vann and Taylor were under constant pressure. Luckily Edwards was beginning to impose himself more on the game and Whaley did put pressure on the Home teams goal. This pressure paid off when a ball from the right reached Prophet who looped it in to get his hattrick and saw Whaley retake the lead.
At 3-2 it was end to end action and Cheshire Boys drew level again with less than 5 minutes to go. All credit to Whaley though as they kept plugging away, Theloke and Edwards combining well. As the clock was running down, Edwards found Barlow who had been kept at bay all game but in one swift move he feignted to shoot, took another step to his right and slotted the ball under the keeper with the very last kick of the game. Enthralling stuff and 4-3 to Whaley.
A great game with both teams competing well but I think over the 2 very different halves, Whaley deserved to win.
