We begin our new season with a really tough month in our first ever season in the Cheshire premier league playing Crewe this Sat who we drew with and just beat 2-1 last season, then Cheadle Nomads at home on the 15th, a a top six side last season and unbeaten until Xmas, followed by 2012 league champions Knutsford away on Sat 18th, Gamesley visit Park Road on the 22nd, 5th last season, Lostock away on the 25th and Denton Town away in midweek on the 29th.
Lee Morris has stepped up 2 levels with Evo-stick North side Trafford and looks set to start the season there after a very good pre-season and we wish him the very best. Ray Dwolitka has chosen to step down to the Hope Valley League after a frustrating last season, we wish Ray the best and thanks for many years of service he’s given this club. Anthony Hunter has returned from trialling with leek Town where he made a good account of himself. New signing Damian Morrison has looked very exciting in the friendlies & in training; George Burgess has also impressed.
Everybody has been put through their paces pre-season and des Walker looks like a young 25 year old playing some of his best football, it will be great to see Des & Scott two of Whaley’s senior players competing at the highest standard the club has ever played.
Now a Step 7 club we will be competing in the Derbyshire Senior Cup for the first ever time this season which will be a great experience for the players, so look out for the draw
